Mindfulness with the Healing Herd

Carole, Livvy and the Healing Herd invite you to a morning of mindfulness and meditation in the beautiful countryside of Avalon.

Mindfulness encourages us to live ‘in the moment’ and learn to change our perceptions and thought processes. Learning this whilst connecting with nature will be a focus of the session.

There are many benefits to practising mindfulness alongside equine therapy. Like us, they are a herd animal, seeking to create social bonds. They themselves live ‘in the moment’, responding immediately to their surroundings, sounds and body language of other animals (and humans!). Because of their empathetic nature they are a caring species and are used not only to aid physical disabilities but, as in the case of our Healing Herd, with mental health issues such as anxiety, anger, depression and grief.

Please wear weather appropriate clothing and footwear

Mindful Moments at Barrington Court

Learn about the practice of mindfulness in an informal session held in the calm surroundings of the court house. In taking a few moments for yourself you will learn how to focus on recharging your energy and to concentrate on ‘being, not doing’.

This event is free, but normal admission charges apply for the venue. There is no need to book. On arrival call in at visitor reception and then head to the allocated meeting place.

The sessions are not suitable for children. Assistance dogs are welcome. Please note that when sessions are held within the court house an upstairs room will be used and unfortunately there is no lift available.

Wear warm, comfortable clothes – it can be chilly in the court house! If the sessions are being held outdoors, please bring something to sit on in case of the ground being wet.

An introduction to mindfulness

Mindfulness is the art of living in the moment; it is a strategy used to guide our minds away from the stress and anxiety of the world around us and instead introduce positivity and calm into our lives. It can also aid in improved concentration, a better working memory, a less emotional reaction to events and even to an alleviation of pain.

This six week course will begin with guided meditation, teaching you how to focus on your breath and senses initially and then how to explore the sensations of body and movement. These and other exercises will be taught and you will be advised to continue practising at home in order to experience the positive changes that can come from them. The process will then be widened to learn how to apply mindfulness in your daily life from drinking a cup of coffee to walking, art and in the workplace.

This is a six week introductory course which will be held in group sessions at The Therapy Room in Hambridge.
